Google’s Chief Scientist and the company’s 30th employee, Jeff Dean, has announced his departure from Google after nearly 27 years to launch a new company focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Dean shared the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), saying that he is concluding his long journey at Google and starting a new AI company called Discovery Loop.
He will co-found Discovery Loop alongside Sanjay Ghemawat, Oriol Vinyals, and Quoc Le, bringing together some of the leading minds in AI research and technology.
Jeff Dean has played a major role in Google’s technological development and has been closely associated with several important advances in large-scale computing and artificial intelligence during his time at the company.
The launch of Discovery Loop marks a significant new chapter in Dean’s career and highlights the growing momentum around AI startups and research-driven technology companies.
